About Integrated Bird Management

Integrated Bird Management provides bird control solutions across the UK and Ireland. Based in Milton Keynes, we specialise in laser bird deterrents, traditional control methods, and strategies tailored to each site’s specific problem.

We work with warehouses, factories, farms, vineyards, solar parks, and other commercial sites where birds cause contamination, structural damage, or operational disruption.

As featured in

Integrated Bird Management was recognised for its use of intelligent, automated laser bird repellent systems helping vineyards protect valuable crops from bird damage in a safe and environmentally sensitive way.

Recognised by Vineyard Magazine (January 2026)

In January 2026, Integrated Bird Management was featured in Vineyard Magazine for its work supporting vineyards and orchards with intelligent, automated bird deterrent systems.

The article highlights our practical, technology-led approach to reducing crop losses while maintaining safe, environmentally responsible bird management practices.

How We Started

Our founder has worked in bird control since 2008. From 2016 onwards, the focus shifted to laser bird deterrents, specifically the AVIX range, working as both a distributor and installer.

Over those years, customers across different industries were struggling with bird problems. The AVIX systems offered something genuinely different: a humane, effective alternative to traditional methods. After working closely with Bird Control Group for over eight years, Integrated Bird Management was formed to become the sole UK and Ireland distributor for their laser systems.

The goal was to combine innovative technology with the technical knowledge needed to create strategies that actually work long-term, while offering real cost savings compared to other methods.

What We Do

We handle bird problems caused by roosting, nesting, and foraging. Our services include:

Avix laser bird control equipment in action on pitched roof where netting is impractical for Swindon facilities management company

AVIX Laser Deterrents

Automated and handheld systems that provide 24/7 coverage across large areas (up to 12 acres per unit).

Wide angle of industrial canopy with pigeon exclusion netting system

Traditional Control Systems

Netting, spikes, mesh, and bio-acoustic systems that physically exclude birds from roosting and nesting areas.

Site Surveys and Assessments

Understanding bird behaviour, pressure levels, and what’s actually attracting them to your site.

Hotel roof in Skegness with new post and wire bird deterrent installed along the leading edge for protection

Tailored Control Plans

Combining methods based on the severity of the problem and what your site needs operationally.

What Makes Us Different

We have experience with a wide range of bird management methods. We’re the most experienced installers of AVIX laser systems in the UK, and we understand how to deploy them properly across different environments and bird species.

But we don’t push one solution. We combine traditional and innovative methods to create cost-effective strategies that actually deliver long-term results.

We also work as partners. We’re focused on building relationships for the long term, which means being clear about what we can achieve and delivering on it. That’s better for everyone.

How We Approach a New Site

It starts with two questions: what problems are the birds causing, and what level of control do you need? The answers determine which methods will work and which won’t.

The next part is understanding bird behaviour and what we call ‘bird pressure levels’. This matters because a deterrent designed for low pressure will fail against an established colony. It’s not about whether a method works in theory, it’s about whether it matches the problem.

During a site survey, we assess where birds are active, what they’re doing, and where they’ll go if we block their current spots. We also look at how to minimise disruption to your operations and consider practical things like aesthetics.

One thing that surprises most clients is just how habitual birds are. Once they’ve established a roosting or nesting site, they don’t leave easily. For high-pressure sites, you need a comprehensive approach, and often that means combining methods and adjusting over time.

AVIX Lasers Have Been Awarded…

Understanding Bird Behaviour & Why Control Methods Fail

Birds are creatures of habit. Their desire to remain at a roosting or nesting site is driven by survival instinct. Moving to a new location means unknown predators, potential conflict with other birds, and uncertainty about food sources. Staying put is the safer option.

Why Most Deterrents Don’t Work

Roughly 70% of bird deterrents fail. The most common mistake is not matching the deterrent to the bird pressure level. A method designed for occasional visitors won’t work against an established colony that’s been roosting on site for months or years.

The Psychology of Bird Colonies

Birds that live in colonies develop hierarchies. When birds successfully roost or nest somewhere, other birds notice and copy the behaviour because the location is now deemed safe. The opposite is also true. When birds avoid an area or emit distress calls, others take note and the site becomes less attractive.

Many bird species also exhibit philopatry, meaning birds return to their birthplace to nest when they mature. This is why short-term deterrents often fail. Without a long-term strategy, those young birds become a future problem.

How Laser Technology Addresses This

Our AVIX laser systems use a 520nm wavelength, emitting green light, which is the most visible colour to birds. Birds perceive the laser as a physical object approaching them, triggering an instinctive flight response. Combined with proper deployment and ongoing adjustments, this addresses both immediate pressure and prevents future habituation.
